‘I missed Biltema too much.’
What has your journey at Biltema been like?
Well, it's actually been two journeys, you could say, because I started in Odense in 2015 and was there for ten years. And then you could say that I've been on some ‘external job training’ in positions elsewhere for about six months, but I missed Biltema too much.
So you've been a store manager both times at Biltema?
Yes, I have.
What is the best thing about working at Biltema?
Well, the best thing about Biltema is that we have a flat organization, which means that there is not a long way from when a direction is set to when it is implemented.
Are there other things you would like to highlight?
Well, you have a lot of autonomy. We have our concept, but within that concept there are good opportunities to develop both professionally and personally.
What qualities are important to have as a Biltema employee, both for yourself and for the employees you hire?
The important thing is not to be afraid of change; you must be flexible. There are always tasks to be done, and they can be new tasks, or they can be traditional, i.e. you continue with what you do during the week. You must be prepared to be part of this team spirit, or ethos – the Biltema ethos – where it's all about being happy and helping each other.
How do you contribute to making Biltema a store for the whole family?
I do this in several ways. Of course, I try to remind my employees that regardless of who you are or who the customer is, you get the same service and the same shopping experience. We try to help customers as best we can. We try to be flexible, i.e. to have the right products at the right time – in the right quantities for the season in question.
Remembering Biltema's core values and living them out every day. This is important, both for myself and for the way I work with my team.
