Summer Holiday in the Motorhome – camping at its best

Campgrounds across the country are quickly being filled up by enthusiastic summer campers. Motorhomes and caravans are rolling into the campgrounds to pitch their awnings, fold out their camping chairs, and settle down in front of the grill. It’s time for a summer of motorhome camping!

More and more people are beginning to understand the allure of motorhome camping, and it is becoming an increasingly popular holiday option. And we can’t help but agree. But what does it take to make your campground perfect? We can’t control the weather and wind (unfortunately), but here at Biltema we have products to help you make the most of your camping trip.

Check your equipment

Before heading out on the road, you should check all your equipment. Do you have everything you need? Is all equipment intact and functional? It may be a good idea to first set up the awning at home to make sure it’s intact and clean. Create a list of all the essentials you need to pack, and make sure that all your equipment is in working order before packing it.

  • Levelling blocks
  • Spare wheel and jack
  • Toolbox
  • Septic tank
  • Water canisters
  • Gas bottle

  • Bicycles

Awning

For most motorhome campers, the awning serves as a portable living room. You can furnish the awning however you want according to your needs and preferences. Many campers choose to use the awning as a living room and dining area – a room where you can hang out. A tent mat is often placed inside, or an outdoor mat with some type of construction plastic underneath to prevent dampness.

If you don’t want a large awning, you can surround your outside area with a durable windbreak. The windbreak protects against wind and creates some privacy, and guarantees you many cosy evenings out in the open air.

Tables and chairs for the awning

The awning is also an obvious dining area at the campground, where you can enjoy grilled dinners together or heated game nights. Buy a practical fold-up camping table, with comfortable folding chairs, and you’ll have a dining area worth a real camper!

Cooking and kitchen

The kitchens in motorhomes and caravans are not typically equipped like a gourmet kitchen. And they shouldn’t be. You’re camping in the great outdoors, after all. If the motorhome does not have a built-in stove, you can quickly and easily cook on a practical portable hob. If your motorhome is big enough, with plenty of storage space, you can also pack your grill. Preferably an electric or gas grill.

Solar panels

Solar panels are becoming an increasingly popular source of energy for motorhome owners, and they can be easily fitted to your motorhome. With the right solar panel, you can charge a larger battery bank or power your motorhome efficiently. Some of our solar panels have two USB ports, so you can charge your phone, tablet, or other equipment.
